Clear Channel Entertainment on Monday announced the first few shows for the inaugural season at the new Lakefront Pavilion at Northerly Island.

The Park District recently selected the local office of Texas-based concert giant Clear Channel over Chicago promoters Jam Productions to program summer concerts and family entertainment at a new 8,000-seat venue at the former site of Meigs Field.

The first season kicks off at 7:30 p.m. June 24 with a double bill of two longtime Chicago pop and R&B favorites, Chicago (the band) and Earth, Wind & Fire. Tickets are $39.75 to $75.25 through Ticketmaster, (312) 559-1212.

Other upcoming performances include a more cutting-edge R&B double bill with the Black Eyed Peas and Talib Kweli, June 26 ($39.50); alternative-rockers Modest Mouse, June 28 ($27.50); the children's concert Ralph's World, July 2 ($5 to $15); singer-songwriters Gavin DeGraw and Howie Day, July 14 ($33.25); veteran pop acts Journey, July 16 ($39.50 to $49.50), and Loggins & Messina, Aug. 4 ($49.50 and $69.50), and modern bluesman Jack Johnson, Aug. 28 ($35).

More shows will be announced later.
